Joshua Smith

Joshua Smith joined Intel in 2004 and leads the Personal Robotics team with his research on electric field sensing for robotic grasping. As a doctoral candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Joshua invented an electric-field-based passenger airbag suppression system that is now standard equipment in all Honda cars. Since joining Intel, he has also led the development of WISP, a wirelessly powered platform for sensing and computing. Josh is an affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington.
