Padmananabhan (Babu) Pillai joined Intel Research Pittsburgh in September, 2003, and has worked on several projects related to sensor networks, distributed camera networks, and modular robotics. He is currently a lead researcher on the Dynamic Physical Rendering project, focusing on ensemble programming techniques and large-scale shape change. His core research interests span a variety of systems-related fields, including distributed computing, low-power and power-aware computing, operating systems, and embedded, real-time systems.
Babu received his B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1996, and both M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, completing his graduate studies in 2003. His doctoral thesis research included pioneering work on power-aware, real-time systems employing dynamic voltage scaling techniques.
