John Mark Agosta

John Mark Agosta is a research scientist in Intel Research. His goal is to advance Bayes network and machine learning methods within Intel. His work involves developing probabilistic models in the areas of testing, human problem solving, and network systems.  In the latter area, for a project on "Distributed Detection and Inference," he developed an adaptive inference scheme for an “anti-computer worm” that messages among computer hosts to detect anomalous malicious network traffic. Additionally, he is an occasional visitor at the Santa Fe Institute, New Mexico.

In a previous position he developed automation for customer relationship management while working at Edify Corporation. From 1998-2000 he was chief technical officer for Knowledge Industries, where he built Bayes networks for medical, avionics and automotive clients. Previous to that, from 1992 to 1998 he worked as a research engineer at SRI International where he created several automated reasoning software tools in military and Coast Guard disaster planning, and for electric utility plant fault isolation.

John Mark received his Ph.D. degree in the Engineering-Economic Systems Department (now Management Science and Engineering)
