Intel supports long-term research in universities worldwide to enable and promote innovation and the advancement of technologies relevant to Intel's future. This support helps build and strengthen ties between Intel technologists and university researchers, and leads to mutually beneficial information exchange. It also trains researchers who may become technical leaders at Intel or elsewhere. Besides funding individual university long-term research grants through the Corporate Research Council, Intel also actively participate with funding and mentoring in large consortia such as
