Bio:
Rob Knauerhase is a Research Scientist in the OS Research Group of the
Intel Labs. His current primary focus is observation-driven dynamic
scheduling in the OS and hypervisor, especially as it applies to
heterogeneous multicore systems. Other professional interests include
distributed systems, machine virtualization, mobile and handheld data
communications, and information privacy in the digital world. He is
also active in university collaboration, shepherding several Intel
grants in support of academic research efforts.
Rob received the Masters in Computer Science from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Bachelors in Engineering from
Case Western Reserve University. He holds 26 U.S. patents and has
approximately 50 patent applications pending. He has published in
academic and industrial journals, and has been invited to speak at
many universities and conferences. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
Rob periodically serves as Adjunct Professor at Portland State
University, and was previously with the NASA Glenn Research Center and
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research
Lab.
Outside of Intel, Rob enjoys volunteer work with the First Baptist
Church of Portland, global travel, libertarian thought (and debate
thereof), clever puns, and spicy foods.
